Walt Disney World Resort is filled with beloved Disney characters just waiting to give a hug or high five, sign an autograph, or pose for a photo. No trip to Disney World is complete without a face to face with your favorite character. But where do you meet them? Well, here’s the scoop.
While you never know when a Disney character might pop up, here are a few tips to improve your chances of seeing your favorites.
Follow the Glove to Track Favorite Characters
All of the Walt Disney World theme park guidemaps now feature the easily recognizable Mickey’s glove icon leading you to where characters can be found. So check your map, and while you’re heading out – keep a lookout for roaming characters. They pop up all over every park.
If you want to fulfill your dream of meeting Mickey Mouse, Mickey’s Toontown Fair is the place to be. In a cool, air-conditioned setting, guests can go through Mickey’s house and meet the Mouse himself in the Judge’s Tent directly behind Mickey’s home. Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck and other pals of Mickey Mouse also stop by throughout the day to meet with fans of all ages. They will happily pose for photos and give autographs in the Hall of Fame located inside County Bounty.
In Fantasyland be sure to stop by the Fantasyland Character Festival. Up to five characters from Disney films are available for hugs, kisses and autographs.
Disney characters never miss the chance to be “in the movies” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The first place characters from the newest Disney animated films often appear in stage shows, attractions or parades at Hollywood Studios. Mickey Avenue is also a prime meeting place for Minnie Mouse and Pluto.
At the Epcot Character Spot, in Innoventions West, Mickey Mouse is joined by Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto and Chip and Dale. They present five brightly colored cartoon themed areas depicting transportation, space, energy, land and communication for photos, autographs and hugs with guests.
Other Disney characters can be found in the World Showcase pavilions greeting guests throughout the 11 World Showcase countries. For example, Belle and her friends from “Beauty and the Beast” are occasionally spotted in the Library in France, while Aladdin and his pals often sign autographs and pose for photos in Morocco.
Guests of Epcot also may find their favorite Disney friends traveling on a double-decker bus throughout World Showcase Plaza. The characters pose for photographs and sign autographs along the way.
Animal Kingdom is home to Camp Minnie-Mickey. In a shady grove of brooks, nooks and cedar trees reminiscent of an Adirondack summer camp, Disney characters, dressed for a safari outing, are on eager to greet guests, sign autographs and pose for photos. Here you can meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Winnie the Pooh and his Hundred Acre Wood pals, plus Chip ‘n’ Dale.
Camp Minnie-Mickey is home to the “Festival of the Lion King” theater show, where Simba and his friends celebrate the music from the classic Disney film.
