Everyone’s Tweeting – but are you using Twitter effectively? Social Media presence is a vital part of every marketer’s toolbox nowadays, and Twitter seems to be the newest and shiniest toy on the bandwagon. Though many naysayers downplay the use of Twitter as a silly use of time and only a way to inform people what you’re eating for lunch, you can use this as a way to reach out to current and potential customers and uniquely build networking bonds within your industry. A separate article will detail strategies for content in social media like Twitter and Facebook, but for now, let’s start at the beginning: where does YOUR Twitter account rank?
A clever free tool from inbound marketing software giants HubSpot (homegrown in Cambridge), Twitter Grader — http://twitter.grader.com/ — looks at your Twitter account and sees how it stacks up with the thousands of other users. Twitter Grader looks at how many people you’re following as well as how many are following you, the age of your account, and how much activity your account has, as well as other factors like a “tweet cloud” (a cloud of words that your tweets commonly contain – great if you’re using for a specific business to see if you are staying on topic). Though this tool is a little less robust than others in the HubSpot repertoire (take a peek at www.grader.com), it’s still a nifty little reality check to see if your Tweeting is making the grade… or if it has room for improvement.
