UFC 112: Invincible is set to take place this morning, April 10 from the Concert Arena at the Ferrari World theme park on Yas Island, in Abu Dhabi.
The main event will feature the UFC middleweight title match of Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia and the co-main event will be a lightweight championship bout between BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar.
Two Northwest fighters will also be on the card when Vancouver native Rick Story takes on Nick Osipczak and Brad Blackburn, from Lacey, will take on Demarques Johnson. Both bouts will be in the 170 lb. weight class.
For those of us here in the Northwest, the event will be live at 10 am (Pacific) or on PPV replay at 7 pm (Pacific). Depending on your PPV provider, you may only be able to watch the replay in the evening, so check your guide to find out when it is avaiilable.

Main Card play-by-play:
Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia Round 1- Silva stands back as Maia dances back and forth. Maia paws and feints a shot. Silva throws a hard push kick to the knee of Maia. Silva lands a brutal leg kick that spins Maia around. Silva throws a spinning back kick to the body and then starts to toy with Maia. Good jab and leg kick from Silva. High kick misses but leg kick lands for Silva. Maia tries to pull guard to no avail. Silva lands a flying knee that rocks Maia. Silva lands a punch as the round ends.
Round 2- Silva lands a knee kick and a good right. Silva drops his hands and toys around landing a leg kick. Maia shoots and gets stuffed. Maia shoots again, nothing. And once again. Anderson pleas with Maia to stand and trade with him, literally. Maia throws two punches that catch nothing but air. The crowd starts to boo as Silva lands a good body kick then a vicious couple of leg kicks. Silva lands two lightning fast jabs to end the round.
Round 3- Maia’s face is bleeding to start the round. Silva dances around still toying with Maia. Silva lands three more knee kicks. The crowd starts to boo again. Silva goes on the attack landing kicks and punches. Maia tries to pull guard again, nothing. Maia throws a punch, misses, and eats a body kick for his troubles. One-two from Silva. Maia swings again, body kick eaten, again. Maia shoots and misses once again. The bell sounds and the crowd boo’s.
Round 4- Silva lands another side-kick to the knee to start off the round. Almost two minutes into the round and not much action. Maia swings for the fences, whiff. Silva lands another one-two combination. Maia’s face is a bloody mess now. The crowd starts to cheer and chant for Maia. Another leg kick from Silva, and again. The crowd starts to chant GSP. The round ends with Silva running around the cage.
Round 5- Maia’s left eye is swollen shut. Silva throws a head kick that’s blocked. Maia shoots and misses. Maia lands a punch and then shoots, and again. Maia throws punches from his knees. Maia swings again and misses. Silva throws a spinning back kick to the body. Maia shoots, gets a leg and presses Silva against the cage. Silva pulls free. Silva throws another knee kick as he runs around the cage. Silva is not engaging as the referee warns him for inactivity, threatening to take a point from the champ. Maia chases Silva as the round closes. The crowd erupts with Maia chants. Silva def. Maia via Unanimous decision. (50-45, 50-45, 49-46)
B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar Round 1- Edgar starts off the fight dancing left to right, in and out, with a feeling jab. Edgar lands a leg kick and darts back out. Penn starts to jab simultaneously with Edgar, trying to time his movement. Edgar continues with his speedy jabs and leg kicks. Edgar jumps in but Penn grabs his head and lands a couple of good uppercuts. Penn lands a small combination to the head. Penn seems to be finding his range. Edgar lands a quick punch-kick combination. High kick from Edgar lands as the round ends.
Round 2– Penn has a cut and a mouse under his left eye to start the round. Penn lands a decent punch as Edgar shot in. Edgar continues with his in and out constant movement. Penn lands again with a left. Penn starts to throw first, landing some hard shots. Edgar shoots, grabs a leg and gets the takedown! Penn gets back up immediately. Penn tries to chase down Edgar as the round ends.
Round 3– They start off the round exactly the same as the others. Penn seemss to be landing the harder shots when counter-punching. Edgar fakes the shot and lands a couple of small, quick punches and right back out. Edgar lands a nice quick left hook that lands on the chin of Penn, and does it again. Edgar shoots in for the takedown which is stuffed and he is back outside again. Edgar fakes the takedown attempt and lands a good body kick. Penn stuffs another takedown attempt and lands a decent knee to the body of Edgar. The round ends.
Round 4– Edgar again with the quick jab and body kick. Edgar uses his great head movement to avoid Penn’s punches and shoots and is stuffed. Edgar lands a good leg kick and attempts a head kick. Edgar again lands a combo while darting in and back out. Penn stuffs another takedown attempt. Edgar’s speed is unmatched in this fight. Penn lands a counter right and good jab. Edgar flies in and lands a punch knee combination. Edgar lands a left hook to end the round.
Round 5– Penn looks to try and press the action and Edgar shoots and gets the takedown, landing a couple of punches on the ground. Penn gets right back up. Edgar continues with his darting punches and a head kick. Penn lands a good leg kick. Edgar attempts a takedown, gets stuffed, but then lands a nice hook. Big right hand lands for Edgar. Penn throws a head kick thats blocked. Edgar shoots again but is stuffed, and again. Edgar lands a left hook leg kick combination. Jab lands for Edgar, and a leg kick. Penn looks winded. Matt Hughes vs. Renzo Gracie Round 1- Hughes starts it off with a kick that misses and a fake shot. Renzo throws a few punches as they continue to feel each other out. Gracie lands a decent left hook that lands flush. Hughes grabs for the clinch and presses Renzo against the cage. They seperate and Hughes does the same clinch and press. Renzo shakes him off and they square up again. They exchange little punches in the center of the octagon. Hughes lands a good leg kick and then another. Hughes misses with the superman punch. The crowd starts to get a bit restless at the inactivity. Renzo lands a push kick to the gut of Hughes and the round ends.
Round 2– Hughes lands two good leg kicks to start off the round. They clinch and Hughes lands a knee south of the border and they high five to show respect. Hughes clinches up but cannot get the takedown. Another big leg kick from Hughes. They trade punches and Hughes goes to the leg kick again. The crowd starts to boo. Aside from landing single punches, the fight is pretty much slow with little action. Double jab and leg kick from Hughes. Another leg kick from Hughes, this one buckles the leg of Gracie. Renzo shoots in but eats some knees to the belly for his troubles as the round ends.
Round 3– Jab, leg kick from Hughes, again. Both fighters look content to stand, dance, and one punch each other. Hughes lands a good uppercut and then backs off. They clinch against the fence again with Hughes landing knees to the belly of Gracie. Hughes lands another big uppercut and a big right hand that staggers Renzo. Leg kick and uppercut from Hughes then another leg kick that drops Renzo. Hughes reaches out and helps Renzo up to his feet, then lands a monster leg kick that drops him again. Hughes lands a couple of punches and leg kicks as Renzo runs from him. One big right hand drops Gracie and Huges backs off again. Another brutal leg kick followed by four unanswered punches that drop Gracie for the last time as referee Herb Dean steps in. Hughes def. Gracie via TKO Round 3 (4:40)
Terry Etim vs. Rafael Dos Anjos Round 1– Etim starts out stalking Dos Anjos throwing a couple of kicks that miss. Inside leg kick lands for Etim, then a head kick. Dos Anjos shoots in, gets the takedown but is in Etims guillotine. Etim continues to squeze and puts on the body triangle to solidify the choke. Dos Anjos sits up and into Etim’s guard. Etim goes for the arm bar, but loses it. Dos Anjos lands multiple knees to the spine and is warned by the ref as he stands them up. They exchange punches and Etim eats a decent overhand left as they clinch. Dos Anjos shoots but Etim throws him down. Dos Anjos rolls for the heel hook but Etim fights out of it. Etim postures up and throws a couple of punches. Dos Anjos rolls for the leg again to no avail as the round ends.
Round 2- Dos Anjos starts off with a good inside leg kick. Etim tries a spinning back kick to the body. Etim lands a good knee to the head then Dos Anjos shoots and gets the takedown. Dos Anjos has side control, landing elbows to the body and head. Dos Anjos tries to mount but Etim gains half guard. Dos Anjos goes for a choke but Etim snakes out of it. Back in side control, Dos Anjos lands some hard elbows to the head. Dos Anjos moves to full mount and then back to side, landing punishing elbows to Etim’s head. Dos Anjos gets north-south and goes for an arm. He gets it and Etim is forced to tap to the arm bar. Dos Anjos def. Etim via submission(arm bar) Round 2 (4:30)
Mark Munoz vs. Kendall Grove Round 1- Grove starts out with a feeling jab. Munoz shoots for a double-leg, Grove gets guard and then to his feet, avoiding big shots. Munoz rushes into a big uppercut from Grove. Munoz grabs a leg to defend the barrage of blows. Grove drops punishing hammer fists over and over and Munoz grabs for a takedown. Grove sprawls and is pressed against the cage. Munoz refuses to let go of Grove and the ref splits them up. Munoz looks shaky on his feet. Munoz shoots but Grove sprawls and puts on an anaconda but Munoz gets out. Munoz throws bombs as Grove grabs for a guillotine. Switching to a power guillotine but Munoz pulls free. Grove goes for it again but the round ends.
Round 2– Munoz attempts a shot but eats another uppercut. Grove pays him back and drops him, gaining the back of Munoz. Grove immediately works for a choke from the back. Munoz works free a bit and gains top possition, teeing off on Grove. Munoz drops into Grove’s guard with big punches. Munoz works the ground and pound to the head and body. Munoz stands and jumps in with huge bombs. Grove looks close to out. The ref steps in and stops the fight. Munoz def. Grove via TKO Round 2 (2:50)
