Baseball is back in the Roanoke Valley as the 2010 Salem Red Sox will kick off their home schedule this weekend. Lewis-Gale Field was at capacity Friday night and the Sox did not disappoint, rocking the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 13-2. Friday night was also a good reminder that having the Salem Red Sox in town is just as much about entertainment and hanging out with friends as it is about baseball. The stadium not only had seats full of avid fans from Red Sox Nation, but it also provided a venue for friends to catch up over a drink, and kids to play pick up games in the common area just inside the main gates.
The Red Sox have initiated the effort to make attending a game more than just about watching nine innings of Class A baseball.. Families take center stage at the park with a variety of food choices as well as a play area for the kids before and during the game. In fact, the Kid’s Club and Silver Sluggers programs offer additional benefits that are sure to interest fans of all ages.
The home stand continues against Myrtle Beach Saturday at 6:05 and Sunday at 4:05.
