It’s that time of year again-Spring! Which means it’s also time for another round of spring cleaning- Here’s some tips and tricks to help along the way:
1st start small! -Do 1 room at a time or even one corner of a room at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed.
2. Carry around a bucket or basket of all your cleaning products/utensils for easy access.
3. Speaking of cleaning products there are many ways to make homemade cleaning products that are natural and cheap! Most of them use vinegar, baking soda,or lemon juice-For instance:
Vinegar– Can be used as an all purpose cleaner-Mix 1 part water to 1 part vinegar in a new store bought spray bottle and you have a solution that will clean most areas of your home. This vinegar mix is also great to clean windows you can even wipe off with a crumpled up newspaper!
Baking Soda– Is not only a great odor absorber it can be used to scrub surfaces(Like soap scum.)
Lemon Juice– Is also great to scrub and shine objects. You can mix 1 cup olive oil with 1/2 cup lemon juice and you have a furniture polish for your hardwood furniture. You can also mix lemon juice with vinegar and or baking soda to make cleaning pastes.-Unlike some cleaning products that do not mix. Remember-Ammonia and bleach together are toxic!
4. While cleaning start from top to bottom. Like with dusting start with the tallest surfaces and work your way down. You can even use old socks and/or rags to help with dusting.
5. Spring cleaning is also a great time to organize and go through clothes, toys, and miscellaneous household objects. Once you’ve gone through and seen what you can get rid of spring/summer is also a great time for a garage sale! -Good Luck and Happy Spring Cleaning!
