The secret to safer streets is to make them safer yourself and not to plead with servants who fight you on this with less than tolerable substitutions.
Citizens are already possessed of legal authority to act independent of police in adverse circumstances; we cannot go about your everyday police business, of course, but we can effect rescue, patrol certain neighborhoods armed, we can direct traffic in an emergency, and deliver First-Aid and CPR all without asking permission.
Why would anyone demonize this immediately available asset of community and national security, low cost, and preservation of life and property when sworn personnel are totally absent?
Because the Militia is effective this way, and one of the things certain types of officials do in their self-interest is to discourage and punish such instruments of independence, independence of them. This is precisely the battle we fight in 2010. We want to be independent of them; they don’t want that. The state cannot live with its citizens being independent of it. Smart politicians will glom on to this and support our independence of their nonsense. Those who demonize Militia oppose citizen authority and root for the State.
It ought to occur to candidates this November that government needs us more than we need them.
When people understand their legal authority to act in protection of their community when first responders will be stretched far too thin even to arrive on scene, they operate on an independent authority all our own, and it is that taste of Independence the servants don’t want you to experience. You might get hooked on it. You might become educated. You might summon your authority over them.
When the electorate notices that it can be a lot more self-sufficient, especially in the first moments to hours of a crisis, it is proof that servants are not as needed as they would insist, and they can’t have that. Hence, any sort of well regulated militia – well regulated meaning self-regulated, that is, since their inception – is then demonized as hostile and belligerent. The militia that is the everyman is by no means exempt from the hostile political demonization of the left. Anything making independence possible is a target for political purposes.
Governmental agencies can do a great job, but not until they arrive. They can feed people, they can bring medicines and medical help, they can bring mobile shelter and comfort, but not until they arrive. This can be days to weeks. Who fills the gap until then?
Militia. And even more people of militia material.
There is a goodness in being independent and it is a goodness you can share with others who need help immediately. It is built-in. It is long-standing. It is good for the country.
Remember that the Militia is everyman, and, as part of every community, it has the very same things to protect as we all do. Remember also, that when Congress passed the Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act of 2006, making it illegal to confiscate weapons from the people in time of emergency, they affirmed Militia within the meaning of the second amendment.
This is why Militia is demonized as Hate by the media and by certain servants; Militias have the will, the knowledge and enough organization to get out from under public servants for the duration. They also have the legal authority which predates all gun control laws in this country.
In this, you have to be able to trust your neighbor, and to prefer working things out as a community as opposed to being worked by the servants. You have to prefer working with those who have as much to protect as you do, and then and only then take it to servants to carry out. This is self-rule.
What do you do when Police and Fire are already too thin in time of disaster? What do you do when beat police officers support your authority in your community? How do you utilize assets and authority when Congress has affirmed you as Militia?
You do it on the knowledge that you don’t need permission.
