It’s Gymboree, it’s the Children’s Museum, Monkey Joe’s and a daycare center all in one. For this, we can thank the wonderful owners of PLAY activity center in Roswell, a 15,000 square foot facility located in the Village Festival Shopping Center. The facility is composed of two large gym areas featuring foam pits, trampolines and inflatables and play areas that include a play restaurant, building area and sensory corner. To top it off there is a parent lounge, family eating area, and mom’s room for private nursing and diaper changes.
But, what really sets it apart from the others may not so much be the facility as the variety of activities they have to offer. Mothers can enjoy regular breaks with their short stay child care program for children ages one and up. For up to four hours, Moms can take a breath and the children can enjoy gym time, art, music storytime and more. This is a great transition for new mothers with toddlers and preschoolers who do not attend daycare or a Pre-K program to spend some time away from one another in an active learning environment. Reservations are required, but there are no obligations to determine a regular schedule. At a rate of $8 an hour, $32 for four hours is less expensive than most babysitters and definitely cheaper than a part-time nanny.
For children 18 months-two years, they also offer parent-child play classes. Regulars pay $60 for a six-week session and drop-ins are welcome at $12 per class, which is a great alternative to other centers who charge registration fees and require a full month’s payment. Siblings are invited to join in on the fun for a discounted price, and the facility also hosts free play time in the gym for those who just want to drop by on a the weekend.
PLAY activity center is certainly a great addition to the Northside’s catalog of fun zones, with something for children and parents of all ages.
