While all may appear normal from the BridgeCam of Star Princess. Princess Cruises announced today that “Because air flights are continuing to operate in and out of Santiago on a limited basis….we will hold the ship in Valparaiso until noon on Thursday, March 4, giving arriving passengers additional time to meet the ship”
In addition, the cruise line said in a statement that the 2,600 passenger Star Princess may host passengers currently on board, due to disembark today on the next cruise at a discounted rate, allowing them to disembark from any of the ports on the sailing up to and including Buenos Aires.
Yesterday, a reader responded to our report about the modification of itineraries by major cruise lines, including Princess by saying:
“Princess cruise management are leaving their passengers in the dark and in danger. We were scheduled to be on the cruise on March 2nd but all our flights to Santiago have been canceled. Yet the Princess Cruise lines still expect us to somehow make our way to the cruise (knowing that the airport is closed and without even giving us any indication of the conditions in Santiago or the road to the port). When we call their call centre they simply refer us to their website. They are refusing to give a refund and have left us confused as to what to do next….” more
Another reader writes:
“We are in the same situation, having been diverted in mid flight Saturday morning to Miami then Dallas, finally home to Burbank. We were unable to get any guidance from Princess and still can’t. The cruise is still going but without those of us unable to get there. The lack of concern on the part of Princess for its passengers is shocking. They have had our payment for many months now and could care less whether we make the cruise. I hope some travel magazine picks up on this debacle and embarasses Princess for their callous disregard of their passengers…m
We hope you can make it to the ship by Thursday and hope you’ll keep us updated as to how that went for you. We’ll post any updates we see here too.
