Game Developers Conference was held last week in San Francisco and Sony unveiled their motion controller called the Playstation Move. Sony came prepared with 45 minutes of scripted videos and live demonstrations that did not utterly impress the gaming industry.
Playstation owners want to see groundbreaking technology. Instead, it looked more as if Sony was chasing after the gold mine that the Nintendo Wii had found with the casual audience.
However, a tech-demo of the Move has surfaced on-line, and it demonstrates truly groundbreaking motion technology. One could make comparisons linking the Move with Spielberg’s “Minority Report.” Personally, I was blown away with what this video shows. It truly looks like special effects with green screens involved, but it is not; it is all live and real.
Playstation 3 owners can only hope that Sony implements the progressive technology rather than just trying to mimic the Wii. Sony has a lot of time ahead to plan their launch strategy for the Move, that being sometime in November.
