PARIS — At a final podium rehersal for the European Championships, some of the best men’s gymnasts in the world gathered in Paris at the 17th annual French International, held last weekend at the Palais Omnisports de Bercy.
Among the women’s event winners were Olympic bars champion He Kexin of China, who overcame a fall on her dismount in prelims with a hit routine during finals, and in-house favorite Youna Dufournet, back from a torn meniscus suffered last November. In Paris, Dufournet proved she hadn’t lost a step, winning vault and finishing third on bars.
World floor champion Beth Tweddle demonstrated superb tumbling to win the event over Russian challenger Ramilya Musina and French newcomer Marine Brevet, while China’s Wu Liufang turned in a flawless-looking beam set for the event title.
Parisian photographer Joël Olivier captured the meet and has generously shared his photos with beepwire.com. His superb images from vault and bars qualifications and finals are in the gallery below.
