This is a flashback to an odd event that happened during the last presidential election. On January 30, 2008, a an Elvis impersonator was arrested during a Ron Paul rally. The GOP presidential contenders were having a primary debate at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, while scores of Ron Paul supporters rallied outside.
Suddenly, an Elvis impersonator was knocked to the ground by cops and arrested for jaywalking outside the GOP debate in front of hundreds of liberty advocates. The jackboots were out in force ‘protecting the public’ at Reagan Library. Elvis, who carried a sign that read ‘WHO WOULD ELVIS BOMB?’ was knocked to the ground in the crosswalk after the light had changed., handcuffed, and taken to a squad car. The crowd then started shouting ‘let him go, let him go!” The cop responded defensively to the crowd by repeating ‘he was jaywalking’. The crowd then started to shout ‘FREE ELVIS’ as the squadcar took him away. Shortly before being arrested, Elvis had walked past the officers gathered in the background and had some sort of conversation with them. More photos here.
There were also about 8 persistant Huckabee supporters, and a dozen Romney supporters there outside the GOP debate.
