It’s amazing to think that there are so many people living in Gainesville who have not traveled the short distance down to Ocala to visit Silver Springs. Many of us went as kids but haven’t been since. But Silver Springs is a great setting for a one-day family vacation.

Silver Springs includes 550 million gallons of water that are pumped through it naturally each day. Visitors can enjoy river cruises, including the famous glass bottom boats among others that transport visitors through Florida’s history. Wildlife exhibits include a white alligator, Big Gator Lagoon, Ross Allen Island (with reptiles, spiders, and otters among others)), Panther Prowl, Kritter Korall (a petting zoon), and the World of Bears.
In addition to the Florida style attractions, there are also rides and activities for the family including a Lighthouse Ride, Kids Ahoy! Playland, the Wings of the Springs bird show, Reptiles of the World Show, Non-Venomous Snake Show, Alligator and crocodile feedings, Wilderness Trail, and the Botanical gardens. The Kids Ahoy!
