We have all lived through an era where we hear a lot about folks who want the right to get married. And with the backdrop of all the state initiatives trying to preserve traditional definitions of marriage, a new kind of marriage relationship is in the news.
True love this time has taken the form of man marrying his pillow.
A Korean man has fallen in love with and married a big pillow with a picture of a woman on it.
Lee Jin-gyu fell for a large, huggable pillow from Japan with a picture of a popular anime character printed on the side.
In Lee’s case, his pillow he fell for has an image of Fate Testarossa, from the ‘magical girl’ anime series.
Now the 28-year-old has married his pillow. He did it in a special ceremony where the pillow wore a tailor made wedding dress for the service in front of a local priest. The groom even kissed his pillow bride at the wedding. Their nuptials were eagerly reported on by the local media.
‘He is completely obsessed with this pillow and takes it everywhere,’ a friend said.
‘They go out to the park or the funfair where it will go on all the rides with him. Then when he goes out to eat he takes it with him and it [the pillow] gets its own seat and its own meal,’ they added.
So now we have something we’ve never thought about in the past: The right of a man to choose a pillow as his wife. Could it be that in the future pillow fights will be replaced with pillow rights?
