Ready, Set, Sew was opened in 2009, in the Central, Ma town of Northborough. The owner, Sue White, felt there was a lack of sewing instruction availability in Central MA. She has a set of twin boys who helped inspire the name for the shop.
Students hard at work
Ready, Set, Sew is not your typical sewing shop. It is in fact more of a sewing studio. They offer classes Monday through Saturday for all ages. The studio features new Janome sewing machines, two large cutting tables, and a fun and exciting environment in which to be creative. Have a project in mind but no place to create? Call and ahead and book some Open Sew time. “If you are experienced at sewing and are simply looking for a place to spread out and sew with no interruptions, in a bright, clean, fun environment, then this is the right place for you. Use our machines, irons, cutting tools, pins, etc. Bring your own project with necessary supplies. We have a small notions department featuring Coats & Clark Thread and Zippers, if you run low.” Staff is available for basic questions but lessons can not be given during Open Sew. There is a fee for using the space $10.00 for the first hour, with a one hour minimum charge, then $8.00 per hour pro-rated in 15 minute increments.
There are 8 amazing instructors teaching at Ready, Set, Sew. Classes range from Doll Clothes to Prom Gowns with countless more in between check the calendar for upcoming classes. They even offer school and summer vacation programs. They have classes just for tweens, teens and a ladies night out event. There is even a Mommy and Me class.
