Clutched just on the outskirts of Santana Row this restaurant is sweet surprise. The LB Steak is a delicious find in the south bay. Though the simple elegance of this restaurant will sustain most visual appetites the food is definitely worth stopping by. If you’ve visited Santana Row you probably passed it off as too upscale or high brow. It’s the overall simplicity of this restaurant that leaves its impression on you. It is the simple touches make this fashionable restaurant out of the ordinary. Touches like the chairs with cowhide or the clear glass doors to the kitchen or the outside patio tables with marvelously draped curtains that make this a find. The service is warm and down to earth with a feeling the staff creates that reminds you of home.
The French onion soup ( fig 17) was the best I’ve tasted here. The emmental cheese was wonderfully cheesy. The soup was savory and the grilled onions and the veal sauce makes this comfort food.

The smoked salmon pizzettes( fig 5) are very air, crispy and ripened. The flavors of the salmon, the dill, the basil and the crème fraiche allow the flavors to really come across. The dish is light with just enough flavor and herbs to be memorable.
The maple pork belly, leek pancake ( fig 4) is a very fun and tasty dish. This dish flavors are reminiscent of breakfast food. The pork belly was tender and leek pancake was light. When you combine the fried egg and the pork belly with sweetness of the syrup ,you feel like breakfast is being served at dinner time. It’s a delicious predicament to be in.
The presentation of the escargot was on the fun side( fig 6). The escargot was very delicate but it was an interesting choice not to serve it swimming in sauces. I’ve tasted escargot with sauces so rich that you could literally dip your shoe in it and the flavors compliment it. This escargot is brave enough to stand on its own. The baby artichokes fricassee was tender and really complimented the dish.
The truffled macaroni and cheese( fig 9) is different if you’re looking for the kind mom used to make. This macaroni is served firm and aldente instead of limp noodles drowned in cheese. There is a distinction to this dish, the truffled cheese remind us of home-style flavors without leaving proper preparation.
The butter poached lobster (fig 1) was supple and delicate. The presentation was lovely and the cannelloni soars with the fennel puree and potatoes.

The seared boat scallops(fig 7) were a sizeable and succulent. The buttery flavors of the scallops came through when accompanying the truffle butter.
The braised short ribs( fig 10) were tender enough to swallow whole. The red wine shallots and the braised ribs make this a delicate and comforting dish.
The Rib eye was very tender and juicy. The smoky essence and the rub on the meat made it delectable. The meat was tender and the texture melted in your mouth.i
