A white supremacist group of approximately 50 people attempted a rally in Los Angeles over the weekend. Although the group had a permit for the event, they had a hard time getting it started.
A group of La Raza protesters shouted down the skinheads as they attempted to tell non-whites to leave the country. They had begun forming shortly before the neo nazi rally was to begin.
At one point, a group of La Raza protesters started beating a lone man with signs while chanting, “Stop the hate”. The man suffered cuts and was bleeding from the head. Police had to erect a barricade and escort the man to safety.
“It’s just one group of racists protesting another group of racists”, commented one police officer on duty. And, the behavior bore that statement out.
La Raza means “The Race” in English, so it is fitting they would clash with a group associated with racism.
As the white supremacists left the event, police officers escorted them to their cars to insure no further incidents occured.
Unfortunately, one person’s car did not start and La Raza protesters started hurling bottles and other objects, causing damage to his vehicle and breaking glass.
According to several bystanders, the La Raza group was far more vocal and violent than the neo nazi group.
