Los Angeles Daily News has reported that “former candidates and grassroots activists launched a recall drive today against Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa” for his budget mishandling and Power and Water rate increase proposals. The group is using the internet to gain support to meet LA recall qualifications.
The initiative to oust the mayor was launched to coincide with the mayor’s state of the city address.
The City Clerk’s Office reports that 250,000 signatures are needed within only 120 days to qualify for the ballot according to Daily News.
David Hernandez, one of the group of former mayoral candidates involved in the recall initiative, said the group, whose website is www.RecallCityHall.org, has raised a couple of thousand of dollars and hope to use the Internet to get supporters to circulate petitions.
The group says it is time for people to take back their city according to KCAL News.
