Kill the Bill, briefly mentioned in a recent article, is an upstart group of opponents to government healthcare takeover legislation on the most popular social networking site Facebook.
As noted previously, this collaborative represents but a microcosm of the overwhelming antagonistic sentiment against Obama, Pelosi, and Reid’s efforts to nudge America another step closer to socialism.
Many have argued that the current administration’s goal is the complete institutional socialization, if not communization of the United States. Based on the direction that “leadership” is steering the mighty American vessel, the point certainly has its merits.
Other than its meteoric rise in popularity, despite next to no promotion, the remarkable thing about this new Facebook group is that it was initiated by such an “every man.”
Neither political pundit nor a party mouthpiece, group creator Caleb Scansen (below) is a hard working, God fearing young man from Billings, Montana. A loyal American and a true patriot in every sense, Caleb, recognizing the injustice of the proposed measure stood up and said in his own way, “This is wrong and it MUST NOT go unchallenged.”
With a great collection of links, articles, humorous photos, passionate opinion, and valuable information, e.g. contact info. for elected officials and where they stand on the issue, the group page is better composed and more useful than many others on that network.
Whether the bill passes the House later today or not, one can’t help but be inspired by Caleb and others like him
Folks, who are just “you and me,” not politically connected “beltway” insiders, not Kennedys or Bushs or Rockefellers, just Main Street Americans who love their country, relish freedom, and don’t want the government any more involved in our lives than needs be.
And one of the few things that are quite apparent about this truly draconian proposition, is that additional government intrusion in our lives would definitely be accomplished, though little else.
One hesitates to invoke the overused David and Goliath analogy in examining Caleb and “Kill the Bill,” especially in terms of the narrative’s actual significance in Scripture. Yet one can’t help but be impressed with the “Calebs” of the world who would stare in the gaping maw of the beast and say, “You will NOT do this without a fight!”
Besides, “David” is not looking so diminutive lately. In fact since the previous column was published a few days back, the membership of this group has grown from just under 3,000 to well over 12,000.
Maybe this is a topical flash-in-the-pan movement, or maybe not. One thing for sure is, if a group of individuals who don’t know each other much, can come together so quickly and in such an impromptu manner to protest so vociferously against something as disastrous as this measure, the true spirit of American Patriotism has not been squelched by the rabid liberals in government. And NEVER will be.
God bless America!
