Recently, I ordered from this much-overlooked sandwich shop, and at the top of the receipt for my Beach Club was the tagline, “Subs So Fast You’ll Freak”. I had ordered about 10 minutes ago. I freaked. The famous motto isn’t false advertising; Jimmy John’s even sponsors a car at the Daytona 500 (#33) as well as other races on the East coast.
Following my initial shock, I enjoyed my dinner and was impressed. The sandwich was fresh and light yet very filling, featuring turkey, provolone, avocado and other veggies. It falls under the Giant Club Sandwiches category and is a hefty foot-long. The club itself seemed simple, yet it didn’t need to be slathered in sauce in order to make it taste good. In fact, the simple ingredients only brought out the terrific taste of the turkey, satisfying even on its own. Not so sure if I would classify it as gourmet, but as Jimmy John himself puts it, who really knows what that means? More importantly, the club sandwich was absolutely delicious, and just under $7, including the ¢25 delivery charge.
In addition to tasty no-fuss subs, there are Plain Slims, which are essentially meat and cheese only sandwiches, as well as the Low Carb Lettuce Wrap, the same ingredients minus the bread. You can check out the menu here.
Jimmy John’s is located at 1309 W. Main St. just past The Corner as well as 1650 Rio Rd. East. And don’t forget that America’s favorite sandwich delivery guys also do catering. You can even order online, and if you are a long-time fan, or even a recent convert like me, you can become a JJ Facebook fan and enter in a promotion to receive a gift card equivalent to 1000 subs to celebrate the opening of Jimmy John’s 1000th sub shop!
