Come lords and ladies, and buy handmade goods from all over at the 18th Annual Palm Springs Renaissance Festival! The event has been going on since Friday, and today, Sunday, March 21, is its last day.
One may think that renaissance festivals are just places to see slightly nerdy people dressed in old fashioned clothes eat turkey legs and swordfight. This is not necessarily so. The Palm Springs Renaissance Festival is three days of energetic entertainment, lots of food and drink, and ARTS AND CRAFTS BOOTHS. The handiwork of many is displayed, and it is not to be missed.
After going yesterday, it was found to be impressive. There were vendors selling handmade tankards (mugs for the ale or other cold beverages of your choice), wooden swords, jewelry, wooden instruments, fairy houses, pirate goods, leather goods, chainmaille (the linking of metal rings in patterns, like in armor), and more. Many vendors are also selling costumes, which is great for those who really want to get in the Festival Spirit.
It is a pleasure to see all of the hard work that went into all of the creations, and the vendors are very approachable and willing to answer questions. You will be impressed at the great attention to detail in many of the artists’ wares. Carved wooden objects are eerily, perfectly hand-sanded to the point that there are no chips or splinters flying up. Sewn costumes have no threads sticking out or imperfections in the fabrics.
