According to its website, Charity Navigator uses information provided on a charity’s tax returns to analyze its financial performance and compares those results against similar charities. The two major aspects of a charity’s financial position evaluated are what Charity Navigator calls its organizational capacity and its organizational efficiency. Organizational capacity measures how well the charity can maintain its currents programs and offerings long-term and how stable services would remain under a slumped economy. Organization efficiency measures how well the charity functions financially on a day to day basis.
The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County earned 3 stars in their efficiency rating and 4 stars for their organizational rating. Averaged together, a 4 star rating was awarded.
