Looking for the real deal in Chinese food? Well, you’ve got to visit Huang Jia Seafood Restaurant in Brooklyn’s Chinatown. Huang Jia is located at 4111 8th Avenue between 41st and 42nd Streets. Theyr’e open 7 days a week from 10 am to 3am!
You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner all in the same location — a Chinese ‘fast’ food restaurant! Unbelieveable? Not so much.
Huang Jia caters to traditional Chinese palates. Americanized dishes are not to be found on this menu! Forget about Chicken and Broccoli, or Vegetable Lo Mein. How about Clamm with Egg under the seafood section or Butterfly Dumpling Soup?
But, if you really want to get the full flavor of Huang Jia, you’ve got to go for the more…exotic dishes. Such as:
* Honey Sliced Snail
* Frog Soup
* Sauteed Jellyfish
* Preserved Duck Wings
* Streaky Pork with Bamboo Shoot
* Conch with Duck Feet
* Lamb Stomach with Chinese Celery
* Eel with Black Bean Sauce
All are priced reasonably from $8.95 to $14.95 for an entree. Oh, breakfast is served from 9am – 3pm and you can have Fish soup, Fuzhou Dumplings, Fried Taro Cake, Sweet Potato Congee, Peanut Scallion Rice Ball Sweet Soup or about 15 other items. Huang Jia has an extensive menu!
So, if you’re looking for true Chinese fare look no further. One thing to keep in mind is that English is most definitely a second language here.
Ta-ta for now!
