Though the new TouchSmart tm2 tablet has been available through HP’s website since late January, it has recently landed at stores in Los Angeles and other cities. We have one in our hands now. As a matter of fact, this column is being typed on it right now.
HP used to be known as the company that made cheap computers. They were sort of like the “Marshalls” of the computer world. However, they have recently shown a lot of improvement to both their customer service and products. Last year, we reviewed the dv3500 series laptop and were very impressed.
The low-end Touchsmart tm2 runs an Intel Core 2 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 4GB of DDR3 RAM, on-board Intel graphics and a 320GB hard drive. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The 12.1 inch screen looks very nice, but only if you are looking at it on an exact angle. However, the screen is miles ahead of that on the grainy HP TX series laptops.
