With the ever expanding, cookie-cutter coffee shop, taking over every corner of the city, it is refreshing to find an eclectic place to sit and enjoy a good cup of coffee. At Hob Nobs, you will find a charming house, transformed into an enchanting coffee house. At the corner of 3rd Ave and McDowell Rd, it is hard to overlook the bright green roofed house, containing the coffee shop.
Upon entering the building, a comfortable, homey atmosphere, coupled with modern art and gifts on the walls (all for sale), is alluring. Multiple rooms branch away from the main entry allowing one to find seclusion, also in the main dining area many tables are available, or on one of the several patios a shady spot to relax can be found.
The menu offers many sandwiches, salads, and pizzas, ranging from $6 to $9. Also featured on the menu, are a few breakfast items, including waffles, and oatmeal. As with any coffee house, there is no shortage of cookies and muffins, to pair with a piping hot latte.
Which reminds me, they do have coffee on the menu, too. Boasting certified organic, fair trade coffee, fresh and locally roasted, the coffee did not disappoint. A full flavor and rich chocolaty aroma, was a delight to savor.
With a classic La Marzocco espresso machine pulling the shots, espresso drinks flavor is guaranteed. The staff was friendly, and courteous, though seemed shocked that I just wanted a coffee and a latte (It is a coffee house, right?). Cleanliness was great throughout, including the bathroom.
