Health care should pass the US House today. I wouldn’t lose any sleep if it did not pass although it might benefit me in the long run, provided I can find a way to avoid IRS penalties and possibly jailtime for not buying insurance. (Hate those mandates.) Thanks for the help, I guess.
The only thing that could stop the bill is if the pro choice caucus balked at the deal that the Stupak blok got to pass the bill. Planned Parenthood, for example and according to Firedoglake, supported the bill because it looked like they might have gotten some of that 11 billion in Bernie Sanders grant money for community centers. So, of course, it looks as if the Stupak blok wants to make sure that Planned Parenthood doesn’t get any of that money. I guess, tactically, the pro choice blok should kill the bill. I don’t think they will though. I think if you read the language of the President’s executive statement you could interpret it to mean that Planned Parenthood could still receive funding, just not any that goes toward abortion. Planned Parenthood will help you bring your child into the world as well. On the other hand, the fact that the public saw this information before choice groups could mean that the President is screwing them, in a figurative political sense. I’m sure.
It’s 7:35 and their still hasn’t been a final vote yet.
