How can I better track my daily exercise workouts?
Spring has arrived. Fitness enthusiasts, devoted walkers, and faithful joggers are enjoying the spring weather as they go outside for their fitness activities. As daily exercise has become more important, we are constantly looking for better methods to track our daily workout stats. It seems the most common method is to write our daily stats on a calendar. This isn’t the case anymore. Throw away your Norman Rockwell calendar because I’ve found the prefect gadget to capture workout stats for any exercise enthusiast, the Nike + iPod Sensor.
What is Nike + iPod Sensor?
The Nike + iPod Sensor is a gadget, which wirelessly connects to your iPhone and iPod. Throughout your workout, the Nike + iPod Sensor collects critical data such as workout time, running distance, pace, calories burned, and key milestones. After completing your workout, sync your iPhone or iPod to iTunes and your workout data is automatically sent to the NikePlus website where all your data is stored for your review. The NikePlus website allows you to review data from all your past workouts. View trends, progress of goals, total distance of accumulated workouts, and compare yourself to other NikePlus users.
What is the NikePlus website?
The NikePlus website provides several key features to assist anyone in obtaining their workout goals. Use the Map It feature to map your route before beginning a workout. NikePlus will calculate your workout distance. Use the Set Goals feature to define your workout goals and identify specific days for your workout. Based on your information NikePlus will customize a running plan. Use the Music feature to create continuous-play music mixes with voice coaching instructions. You can also add a Power Song to use to help boost your energy during those energy draining workout times. Use the Challenges features to create a new challenge or join an existing challenge with other NikePlus users. Challenges allow you to work with others on common workout goals such as a distance race, most miles, fastest run, and distance goal.
How does it work and what’s the cost?
The Nike + iPod Sensor fits comfortably into the bottom of any NikePlus shoe. Don’t have NikePlus shoes, no problem. The Nike + iPod Sensor fits under the laces of any athletic shoe. The Nike + iPod Sensor is about the size of a quarter and connects wirelessly to an iPhone or iPod using Bluetooth technology.
There are two options when purchasing the Nike + iPod Senor. Those owning an iPod Touch (2nd generation) or iPhone 3GS only need to purchase the Nike + iPod Sensor ($19). All other iPhone and iPod owners need to purchase the Nike + iPod Sports Kit ($29), which includes a Bluetooth receiver that plugs into your iPhone or iPod. Both options are reasonably priced and a must have gadget for any fitness enthusiast.
