Fess Parker, television and film actor and vintner died Thursday, March 18, 2010 of natural causes. He was 85 years old.
Though perhaps best known for his portrayals of Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, Mr. Parker also left a legacy of winemaking at his Los Olivos, California winery, Fess Parker Family Winery and Vineyards. His Santa Barbara winery has been the recipient of many awards and accolades and the winery was used as a set in the movie Sideways.
When told of the breaking news report of Mr. Parker’s death on Thursday, one man was reported to have said, “We lost a great one today.”
Fess Parker is survived by his loving wife, Marcella, his son, Eli, President of Fess Parker Family Winery and Vineyards and Director of Winemaking and Vineyard Operations, and his daughter Ashley, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, 11 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.
