DJ Alizay at Steve’s Bar Room For 95 Live Tonight

by beep wire

It’s the third week in March, the NCAA Tournament starts today and it looks like the weather is finally changing. These are all indicators that it’s going to be a good spring at ’95 Live. Hosted by the good people of Florida Avenue’s Commonwealth DC, Stussy DC and For The Greater Good, you’re guaranteed to hear-and love-everything from both ends of the 90’s musical spectrum. However, don’t  be surprised if you hear a few random out of decade hits in between 90’s classics. The best strategy is to drink to the point that you don’t care or notice.’95 Live might start off slow, but things almost certainly pick up after midnight. Just remember that Steve’s Bar Room is a hole in the wall, so it gets packed quickly. Guests are treated to free giveaways from Commonwealth, Stussy and Hellz Bellz; and ladies are apparently offered free champagne from 9-11.

Tonight, the legendary DJ Alizay makes his second appearance it ’95 Live this year. Since first discovering the art at the tender age of 13, DJ Alizay has climbed the mountain to become the leader of the pack of DJ’s in the area. He got his start by building up his reputation among teens and young adults by Djing local hous eparties and college events, and this rise is popularity would lead to him landing gigs at 2K9 and DC9. He continued to grow, eventually landing the coveted Friday night spot at love, as well as the Saturday night spot at H20. For the past decade, he’s been a household name at DC’s own WKYS. He put his ambition on full display by delving into production and A&R work by lending a helping hand to Wale early in his career, and now acting as his road DJ. This has all culminated in him performing around the world, earning the “Mix Show DJ Show DJ of the Year” title 3 times at the Mix Show Power Circuits in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. In addition to that, he’s also performed at the BET Jazz Festival in Turks and Caicos. That’s a pretty respectable resume, and he’s bringing it all back to ’95 Live tonight. His last set was crazy, bringing people from all walks of life out of the woodwork to party. That says a lot. Last week, Jerome Baker III and Tom Lim did their thing while splitting time behind the booth. There was a good turnout, and it rained last Thursday. The weather’s been beautiful recently and the NCAA Tournament is starting, so people will want to start their weekends off by behaving badly. Come out and indulge.
