Cornyation 2010 kicked off its first night with two shows on Tuesday night, April 20, 2010 at the Empire Theater.
Delivering on director Ray Chavez’s challenge to offer San Antonio’s most raunchy and cheapest Fiesta event, the reviews of both audiences proved he delivered once again.
“I was told this was a must see event in all of Fiesta,” said Michael McDonald of Ireland. “Now I know why because it is so much fun. This is a great show and I am going to try to come back tomorrow.”
The Court of Magnificent Epic Failures theme featured musical and comical spoofs on national and local politics, news and current events.
President Obama, Tiger Woods, Michael Jackson, Mayor Julian Castro, Rosie O’Donnell, Toyota, Barbie doll at age 50, and reality TV were roasted.
One of the most controversial skits was a skit “Representing the A Ding Dong Stole My Baby” representing “The Queen of The Haitian Baby Heist.”
One of the most popular collectibles of Fiesta is the 2010 Cornyation Medal designed by artist Curt Slangal.
“I look forward to seeing what the medal is going to look like each year,” said collector Josie Gonzalez. “It is THE medal I have to get for Fiesta.”
