The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following incidents during the week of April 11-17 :
April 12 — 11:39 a.m., Theft —56034 Hazen Road, in Warren—The reporting party stated that a box of tools was stolen and other items were taken from the residence mentioned above. This case is pending further information.
April 12 — 1:20 p.m., Traffic Accident—30570 Cater Road, in Warren —The reporting party stated that a vehicle had crashed into a set of mailboxes near the above location. Deputies arrived and checked the vehicle, nobody was located. Deputies had the vehicle towed by a local tow company. The scene was cleared and peace was restored.
April 12 — 7:25 p.m., Stolen Vehicle—29060 Dike Road, in Rainier —The reporting party stated that a truck had been stolen from the above location. The suspect, a former employee of the business, was thought to have stolen the vehicle. The location of the keys was known by a former employee. This case is still under investigation and pending further information.
April 13 — 9:56 p.m., Domestic— 34806 Bachelor Flat Road, in Warren— The reporting party stated that her husband had knocked her to the floor during an argument. It was reported that the male subject had been drinking. Deputies arrived and took a report of the incident, the male subject had left the scene before law enforcement arrived. This case is pending.
April 13 —10:36 p.m., —Fight in progress—58620 Kavanaugh Street, St. Helens— Law enforcement officers responded to the above address after a 9-1-1 call for a fight in progress. It was reported that a weapon was involved however it was a cane that housed a knife. Law enforcement arrived on scene and following an investigation, Frank Martinez, 49, of St. Helens was taken into custody for two counts of Menacing. Mr. Martinez was transported to and lodged in the Columbia County Jail.
April 15—11:46 a.m., Death investigation— 54614 Reid Road, in Scappoose— It was reported that a male citizen was found deceased at the above location. It was apparent that he had passed away from natural causes.
April 16— 4:26 p.m., Traffic accident— 17803 Beaver Falls Road, in Rainier— Deputies responded to a report of a car accident in the area. The driver of the vehicle was located and no serious injuries were reported. The scene was cleared and peace was restored.
April 16— 7:10 p.m., Traffic accident— Hafferman Road and Scappoose-Vernonia Highway, in Scappoose— Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash near the above location. It was reported that the accident was a single car roll over and the vehicle was on its top. Following an investigation Matthew Clark, 37, of Vernonia, was booked and released on charges of Driving Under the Influence. Mr. Clark was transported to the Columbia County Jail where he was later released.
April 16 — 7:14 p.m., Agency assist — 77647 Baldwin Road, in Clatskanie— Deputies assisted local paramedics at the above address. A subject at the residence had taken prescription drugs and drank an unknown amount of alcohol, and was out of it. The subject was not suicidal or violent. The subject was transported to a local area hospital by medics.
April 16 —8:22 p.m., Domestic — 23870 Kellar Road, in Rainier— The reporting party stated that parents are having an argument. The male subject had left the premises and now the female was trashing the residence. Deputies arrived on scene, following a short investigation, everyone had settled down and peace was restored.
April 16— 11:18 p.m., Traffic accident— 30758 Beaver Homes Road, in Rainier— The reporting party stated that two vehicles had went through a stop sign, and to avoid a collision the vehicles ended up in a creek near the location. No injuries were reported and a local tow company was called to remove the vehicles.
April 17— 1:14 p.m., Domestic— 18891 Mallory Park Road, in Rainier—Deputies responded to a report of domestic at the above location. It was reported to be male vs. female, and the male subject may have a broken nose. Following an investigation, Kelly Warren, 40, of Clatskanie, was taken into custody for Assault IV/Felony Domestic. Ms. Warren was transported to and lodged in the Columbia County Jail.
April 17— 9:07 p.m., 9-1-1 Hangup— 75833 Price Road #1 in Rainier—responded to a call of a 911 Hangup at the above location. Following a brief investigation, Melanie Souther, 32, of Rainier, was taken into custody. This case is still pending further information
