Coffee at Cosi

March 21, 2010

Just about everyone has been to or walked by Cosi. Scattered throughout Philadelphia, Cosi offers everything from lattes to breakfast to lunch. Cosi situated on 17th and Market Streets is no exception. The two story café accommodates a sizable lunch crowd while maintaining a warm, inviting atmosphere. Any discerning, value conscious consumer would be wise to stop in.

Upon entering Cosi, you immediately notice the customers snacking on sample bread, waiting in line. Customers sometimes queued up to the door, view the salad and sandwich-making process, the selections of consumers who arrived sooner. Long lines, though, deter many consumers no matter how well recommended the establishment. Cosi, wisely, recognizes the legitimacy of this complaint and combats line-haters head on. A Cosi staff member manages the line and takes your order. Basically, the staff member records your choice and hands you a slip of paper that contains your order. You hand said paper to the behind the counter staff member who assembles your selection. This system quickens the ordering process, lessons the pain of waiting and minimizes the possibility that the cook staff mishears your order. Win, win, win.

Choosing your meal at Cosi, requires a test of will. The selection of Flatbread Pizzas, Melts and Cold Sandwiches and Salads, diverse and tempting, provide the consumer with an extensive but not overwhelming array of choices. The difficulty lies in making the final selection. Cosi bread, white or Rustic, baked in an onsite brick oven, is usually still warm when served. Whether as the base of the Margherita pizza, side to the Signature salad or enclosing a Shrimp Remoulade sandwich, the bread always satisfies. All meals, consistently delicious and made with fresh ingredients, ensure the consumers’ return.

Hungry diners, before 11 AM, choose from an individual or omelette squagel (square bagel), croissant sandwiches, quiches and even oatmeal. Cosi breakfast offerings, perfectly portioned, taste especially good when accompanied by any of the hot drinks available. The numerous coffee drinks also complement the decadent desserts. Smores, Bread Pudding and Mississippi Mud Pie name only a few items on the dessert menu. Deciding which dessert to order, requires careful consideration.

Cosi markets itself as an upscale, casual dining establishment. The convenient locations, solid customer service, low cost and high quality food make it a consumer favorite. “Life Should Be Delicious” is the Cosi motto and thanks to a well planned restaurant experience, it is.
