Easter Sunday falls on April 4, this year. In addition to being perhaps the most religious of the Christian holidays, celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Easter also takes on a secular side known for family gatherings, Sunday-go-to-meeting clothes, luscious dinners, and Easter egg hunts. WRAL will have one on April 3, and area malls like Raleigh’s Crabtree Valley, Crossroads Plaza in Cary and others will have hunts. Of course, the children generally anticipate the arrival of the Easter Bunny and the goodies he brings. Triangle area malls also expect an appearance by the candy-ladden hopper.
If your taste in Easter eggs leans toward chocolate, check out these very special eggs from Valrhona, one of the world’s most respected makers of fine chocolate for chefs and consumers.
Some say the glorious gift-giving tradition of chocolate Easter eggs began in France (and Germany) in the early 18th century, celebrating not only Easter, but also the arrival of spring and the spring equinox.
This year, Valrhona is offering a delicious dozen of colorful, foil-wrapped chocolate eggs in a sleek oblong box that is as clear as a spring day and tied with an elegant powder-green ribbon.
There are four flavors of Valrhona’s Chocolate Easter Eggs. The milk chocolate Tanariva has sweet notes of caramel, while the velvety smooth milk chocolate Gianduja has a subtle taste of hazelnut. On the dark chocolate side is one paired perfectly with a sublime raspberry center, and the other is made of Manjari dark bitter chocolate.
Valrhona understands how hard it is to choose. That’s why the Chocolate Easter Egg collection is available as a box of a dozen eggs in either all milk, all dark, or as a combination of both for $14.99. They are available at the new online boutique www.valrhona-chocolate.com and at select retail shops.
Since 1922, Valrhona has produced chocolate couverture in the middle of the famous vineyards of Tain l’Hermitage in the Rhone Valley, France. The company is literally “Aux sources du Grand Chocolat” in its role as a planter, discoverer, selector and blender of fine and rare cocoa beans. Valrhona’s commitment is to the creation and enhancement of authentic, intensely flavored and unique chocolates, and to sustainable business practices. Its tradition of creativity, expertise in taste, and a strict adherence to traditional chocolate-making methods makes it the standard bearer in the industry. The brand of choice for the world’s most demanding pastry chefs and chocolatiers, Valrhona is unique among chocolate producers in offering connoisseurs more than 10 exceptional dark chocolates with a cocoa percentage above 64%.
Here’s hoping your Easter celebration is filled with meaning, family unity, and joy. And there’s no doubt that if you are a chocolate lover, Valrhona gives you even more reason to celebrate the occasion.
