Located half way between Tulsa and Oklahoma on Route 66 is the Chandler Route 66 Interpretive Center. The center is located inside Chandler’s Armory building which was built in 1936 as a WPA project and constructed of native sandstone block.
Interpretive videos describe this venue that preserves the history of Route 66. Inside are a number of areas with videos that tell the story of “The Mother Road.” Sit in the chairs that represent the drive in theaters or lay on the platforms that represent the beds of the many motels along Route 66 to watch videos about Route 66. Each area has a touch keypad that activates the video.
The Chandler Route 66 Interpretive Center is located at 400 East Route 66, Chandler, OK and is open Tuesday-Saturday 10 am-5 pm. Admission is $6 for adults.
