Leave it to Austin to create an awesome event for “Earth Day Eve” – it’s Earth Day Festival 2010 at Triangle Park with tons of activities for kids and families-plus the weekly Farmer’s Market! The Festival Kids’ Corner will include face-painting, story-time, and even arts and crafts made from recycled materials. Kids will also get to plant an herb to take home with them, and Greenling Organic will be bringing a friendly goat and some chickens, too!
Learn about the Edwards Aquifer, how composting works, the importance of recycling, and gardening with native plants through hand- on demonstrations and activities! Explore what other kids are doing to help protect our planet and come up with your own solutions!
More than 100 artists and vendors will have plenty of earth-friendly wares. And what’s a festival in Austin without live music?
They band line-up is:
4:00 – 4:30 Vermeers — Allan Gil
4:45 – 5:15 Raised by Pandas
5:30 – 6:00 Rich Restaino & The Obits
6:15 – 6:45 Havilah Tower
7:00 – 7:30 Belaharr
Following the bands, the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow will screen Plant Earth “From Pole to Pole.”
This is a great event for both kids and adults to understand and experience how we can work to have positive impact on the Earth and help to Keep Austin Green.
