This multifunction copier (MFC) is a robust workhorse and for small businesses in the Indianapolis there are several distributors, including a manufacturer direct, Pro-Tech service branch whose service, support and leasing rates are excellent. Every time that we have had a need a technician was either on site the same day or in contact with us with a resolution inside of a couple hours.
The C451, as with many of its other relatives in the Konica-Minolta line, is easy to install and to use. It has many configurable options and add-ons including a Fiery Controller, fax module and network card as well as a built-in color scanner that is capable of outputing to several common media types including email, SMB (file share) and FTP.
The C451’s standard print engine is best used for business print materials such as memos and internal media, but with the Fiery add-on module this MFP is also a good production machine for creating simple brochures, presentation handouts and other marketing materials. The device supports the use of card-stock thickness paper. During the last year of using this product in real world scenarious I found that it reliably produced good, quality prints at a reasonable cost.
Lastly, the administrative tool kit for configuring the settings of this device works great in both FireFox and IE making the machine easy to monitor and configure. The built-in account tracking features also allow authorized users to report printing costs by either project accounts or users. Taken together this device has proven to be an easily customizable and sturdy necessity for any small business seeking to get rid of the desktop printers in favor of more cost effective options.
