Families can help raise awareness and money for Autism and have some fun too by visiting a Pump It Up location on April 22.
April is National Autism Awareness Month. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in every 110 children is diagnosed with autism and according to the US Department of Education; it is growing at a rate of 10 – 17 percent per year
Although Autism is on the radar now it is still new and unfamiliar to many. But as the numbers continue to grow, more people are spreading the word. On April 22, thousands of people across the country will join together to help work towards providing assistance to families affected by Autism.
Pump it Up is one organization that will be helping. Pump it Up of Oakdale is the nation’s largest franchise of indoor, inflatable playgrounds. They will be one of more than 150 other Pump It Up franchises to participate in an Autism event.
“We want to help the Autism Society raise awareness during National Autism Awareness month,” Kelly McGowan, owner of three Pump It Up locations in the Twin Cities said.
“Pump It Up is a really great fit for kids on the autism spectrum. They have so much fun at Pump It Up while they are working on developing their large motor skills. It is truly a joy to watch kids faces when they are playing at Pump It Up,” she added.
The event will be run like an open house. Families show up whatever time works best and stay for as long as you want. No preregistration required. The whole family can participate too.
