If you’re a lover of that delicious little poultry appendage more commonly known as chicken wings, then your time has come. Clear a three hour block on your calendar on Sunday, March 21st from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for the “16th Almost Annual Best Wings Cook-Off” at Two Steps Downtown Grille in Danbury.
With over 300 pounds of hot, tasty wings to be sampled, this mouthwatering event is sure to draw huge crowds of people ready to indulge in a finger lickin’ good time.
Who can enter this colossal wing fest of a contest?
It doesn’t matter if you’re a closet wingaholic, a confessed food snob or a complete novice, anyone can enter what they believe to be the best wings on the block. But not only do you have to bring your game face to this competition, you’ll also need to bring at least 25 pounds of wings with you to back it all up. And don’t forget any promotional items that will help sway the hungry public—remember, this is a contest.
Don’t think your hard work is all in vain, though. Contestants get a little something out of this for their efforts. For being a good sport, spending hours in the kitchen cooking mounds of wings and then giving them away, all entrants will receive a $50.00 gift certificate to Two Steps Downtown Grille just for entering.
Top prize for the best wings take home a $150.00 gift certificate to Two Steps Downtown Grille, while second and third place will receive gift certificates in the amount of $100.00 and $50.00, respectively.
Deadline for entry is Friday, March 19th. See newsletter for wing contest entry form.
You don’t have to enter to participate
If your lack of cooking skills make even you cringe, you don’t need to whip up a huge batch of wings to join in on the fun. You can also help judge by sampling wings and casting that all-important vote–and there’s no charge to sample. How sweet is that?
For the sports fans, you’ll want to make sure you attend as well because you’ll have an opportunity to meet the Danbury Whalers, Connecticut’s newest pro-hockey team. There will be Whaler Wings to sample, too. What a great way to kick off the arrival of spring!
So make sure there’s plenty of room on your schedule . . . and in your belly . . . for the “16th Almost Annual Best Wings Cook-Off”.
Happy eating . . . and may the best wing win.
