Ben and Jerry’s has launched their newest flavor. Bonnaroo Buzz is described as containing “light coffee and malt ice creams with whiskey caramel swirls and English toffee pieces.” Thus far, the flavor has only been tasted by Bonnaroo fans, Ben & Jerry’s Chunkmailers and Ozomatli mashers at a special, invite-only party in New York.
Bonnaroo Buzz was developed through a collaboration between Ben and Jerry’s and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Bonnaroo is going to donate their portion of the proceeds to the Bonnaroo Works Fund whose goal is to “further the organization’s community investment and philanthropic endeavors.”
Here in the Denver area, you can get your own taste of this special, local scoop store only flavor at a special nationwide release party May 4th from 5-7. There will be giveaways and of course, free samples of the new flavor.
Ben and Jerry’s uses only milk and cream from family farmers who pledge not to use rBGH in the production of their milk. They are also working on transitioning to using all Fair Trade ingredients. While not as good as making your own homemade ice cream with local, organic milk, cream, and eggs, Ben and Jerry’s is still a pretty good, sustainable option for ice cream.
