Montgomery College, Rockville campus is hosting a two-day training seminar on autism and other developmental disorders. The seminar is for parents, educators, medical personnel and support staff who work with children on the autism spectrum. A variety of sessions will be offered on both days for the training and education needs of attendees. There will be several key speakers who are experts in the fields of autism and other developmental disabilities. There will also be information booths on available resources for families set up in the college gymnasium on the second day of the seminar.
The purpose of the seminar is to increase the awareness and understanding of the autism spectrum and provide ideas for enhancing the lives of those with developmental disabilities. The increasing rate of autism spectrum disorders is creating a need for more training of service providers and educators. There is also a greater need for family services and education while raising children on the spectrum.
The deadline for registration is April 2. There is a cost of 55.00 per day for Maryland residents. Residents of other states will be charged an additional fee.
