Growth and prosperity comes from hard work and new ideas and the implementation of those ideas. The following politicians which reside in Harris County and the rest of Texas fall in line with what is happening in Washington on a daily basis. Out of the 850,000 persons who lost their unemployment benefits from political grandstanding a two weeks ago can blame those who come home and state that they are for the people of Texas. Rah Rah Rah, right?
We have listened to the words they give us concerning past accomplishments they have made being both Texas State and Federal Senators/Representatives but that was years ago. The disconnect should prove that they deserve to be looked at closer as November rolls up on us. It is obvious that none of them state anything toward future plans for developing the capital which put them in office in the first place. We are at risk.
We are at risk when the leader who we have chosen in Harris county start smelling themselves and forget where their careers originated. Education is the key to growing a good tax base which holds smart and willing workers. As I stated in previous articles – change is now required. Stringent rules should and must be applied to replace and remove complacency and waste in social service organizations. This is from the staff to those who apply for those services. it goes this way, if there are constant handouts to those who are in need, those who live at or below the poverty line – they should have to face higher standards than those that are in place today. Not only should their income and numbers in the household be a determinant factor, the involuntary option, if they choose to use the benefits from a social service organization should be the following:
Parenting Classes (We all could use pointers in being better a parent)
Income and Budgeting Classes (They should be ready to count their own money)
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skill Courses (Community College Course ) and
G.E.D. Classes (All should get to this level of education)
It would be a greater state and county if those we elect would reach back and assist in raising the bar in the local communities. Sending people to the local Community College and through the programs at Community in Schools for G.E.D.’s would allow the county to lead the state in more educated and ready to work individuals than there are right now. Harris county has more than 12 million housing units at and average density of more than 750 units within a single populated mile. Now if we would think of increasing the education and potential earnings of individuals who are on social services for assistance, the greater the county would be with a larger participation in actual monies earned and spent. Monies which are not from other tax payers. It is closer to reality than just an article. Call your Representative or Senator and ask for the change.
