Animal Planet Celebrity Joel Silverman was at Knoxville today with his dog, Foster, to promote his new book “What Color is Your Dog?”
Silverman, who hosts “Good Dog U,” is on a national book tour to sign and sell his new training book. The book focuses on a new dog personality color-coding method that helps identify and then enhance a dog’s behavior.
As part of his book tour, Silverman and Foster hot dogged it at PetSafe Village to demonstrate that dogs can be trained to do more than sit and stay.
Silverman isn’t just featured on animal cable channels. He’s a nationally known trainer who has worked behind the scenes for years training animals for movies, commercials and television shows. He’s also been known to train birds, which he said are just as intelligent as dogs.
“We were thrilled to host Joel today,” event organizer Randy Boyd told The Seymour Herald and the public. Boyd is the founder and CEO of Radio Systems Corporation which is the maker of PetSafe brands. “[Silverman’s] and expert in his field and is extremely passionate about animal welfare, so it’s a true honor to have him in Knoxville.”
Silverman’s visit also ties in with Knoxville community leader’s efforts to make the city and Knox County the “Pet Friendliest” community in America. Community leaders are focusing on pet-focused tourism, expansion of more pet activities and more pet-friendly parks and businesses.
“It’s so important that a community be pet-friendly,” Silverman told The Seymour Herald and the public. “I am thoroughly impressed with Knoxville and its community leaders who have the passion to pursue making this a place that is friendly toward animals.
“A pet can really have an enormous impact on a person’s life and it’s critical that America’s communities support that.”
Silverman’s new book is featured on his website, companionsforlife.net and is also available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, Boarders, Petsmart and PETCO.
