Amber Alerts and missing children cases: Gebar Byrd Jr. still missing
Gebar Byrd Jr., disappeared with his mother, Yasmin Rodriguez, on March 23, 2010. His mother’s body was later retrieved from the Mississippi River and police believe that she is the victim of foul play. Two-year-old Gebar Byrd Jr., is still missing. The case is being handled by the University City Police in Missouri and Gebar Byrd’s family is speaking out against the investigators.
They’ve said that they aren’t pleased with the investigation and feel that it took too long to begin. Guadalupe Rodriguez, Gebar’s mother’s sister, spoke with News Channel 5 and described Gebar’s father as abusive. Police state that Gebar’s father says he had an argument with Yasmin and that she left the residence with Gebar and he hasn’t seen or heard from them since.
According to police, they have not dragged their feet in the investigation. They haven’t issued an Amber Alert because Gebar left with his mother and the case isn’t a typical abduction. An endangered child alert has been issued.
Yasmin Rodriguez’ body was retrieved from the Mississippi River on April 9, 2010. Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Gebar Byrd Jr., is described as a black and Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a light complexion and is described as being of a small build. There is no clothing description available.
