With Simon inevitably leaving America’s favorite karaoke competition, American Idol is allegedly in talks with Adam Lambert to replace the surly Brit as a judge on the show. Showbiz Spy is reporting that an AI insider let it slip that producers were so blown away by Lambert’s critiques on the episode when he mentored the current contestants during Elvis Week that they’re thinking of having the young singer return full time.
Obviously, nothing is set in stone just yet but would the glam rocker be what Idol could use to spice up their show? Cowell, who has been set on leaving the show after this season for some time, is planning to focus more of his time on The X Factor, a talent show that was originally based out of Britain but will be making it’s debut in the US soon.
Fellow Lexingtonian and American Idol fan, Meredith Lovelace, had this to say about the possibility of Lambert stepping up to the plate, “It will definitely change the dynamic of the show. I really don’t see Adam Lambert stepping into the strict role that Simon holds and that’s one of things I think Idol needs.”
Granted, this isn’t a sure thing by any means, but it’s definitely something for Idol fans to think about. In Lexington, you can catch American Idol on Fox (channel 7 on cable) on Tuesdays at 8pm and Wednesdays at 9pm.
