Spring is here! And what better time to celebrate Youth Art Month than when nature’s colors emerge in full bloom.
One of the best known secrets in North Arlington is a little cafe called Cassatt’s – A Kiwi Cafe. It is not only a great cafe and coffee bar, looming in comparison to the cookie-cutter, burned coffee alternatives out there; it is a place of art, both in display and instruction.
Cassatt’s walls are not only covered with art from the Arlington Artist’s Alliance, the alliance offers classes in a classroom under the restaurant for children, teens and adults. If your child cannot stop doodling or is passionate about coloring, this is a great place for them.
Instructor Cynthia Gilmour is gentle, encouraging and just the right amount of challenge to make any budding artist get outside their comfort zone. As the brochure says: “Students will work with graphite pencil, pastel, acrylic and/or oils. Materials, techniques, composition, value and color will be discussed. Students will work on individual and studio projects with one-on-one and group instruction.”
Drawing & Painting for Teens and Youth is the perfect class in which your children can learn about shading, colors and the simple techniques of artistry.
Check the online schedule today. Classes begin in a couple of weeks, so do not delay. You may find that the art in your home will quickly move from your refrigerator to your walls.
