For those who are not into time, it is pretty easy to tell when 4/20 hits town.
Walk anywhere near the Vancouver Art Gallery and you will be greeted with acrid smoke, from 5,000 marijuana devotees, whose collective exhaling results in a fog so thick that at times non smokers blocks away were covering their faces to avoid inhaling the smoke from the devil weed.
4/20 has hit not only Vancouver, but in major cities all across Canada, with only one incident in Toronto when Rapper Billy Burnz of Certified Cash Corporation helped tackle the alleged person who pulled out a gun and started pistol whipping a member of the rap group CCC member Tha Genius.
The words “He’s got a gun” rang out throughout the crowd, resulting in hundreds, if not thousands of freaked out stoners running haphazard in every direction, screaming like a zoned out chickens much like a scene in a Cheech and Chong movie, all frantically ducking for cover, including eye witness account by one intellectual who goes by the name “Hippie Bong Stocking”.
This week Vancouver Parks Board have placed a ban on cigarette smoking in public parks next fall, one wonders what would happen if participants in yesterdays 4/20 rally decided next year to hold their rally in a public park?
Many citizens in the lower mainland feel British Columbia has gone to hell in a handbasket when 5 thousand Pot Heads all band together on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery and light up joints en masse in the centre of the cities bustling tourist district, while politicians turn a blind eye.
Interesting though the absence of doctors, armchair health critics commentary in all this? After all, smoke is smoke, and their own reports of second hand smoke as dangerous to non smokers rings in every media story on health.
Funny, you know if cigarette smokers by the thousands were to do this en masse as a protest in Vancouver, I am sure there would be thousands of anti smoking protesters rioting and tire burnings in the streets, complete with grandstanding politicians with bad combovers on a national scale and lively televised discussion forums and government tax payer funded studies on why this happened.
Medical studies showing marijuana has medicinal benefits as a pain killer for ailments seems to be the anthem for those who smoke marijuana whether they need it or not and want it legalised.
Judging by the thousands smoking up on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery, there seems to be a lot of mental ailments, phantom or otherwise among these marijuana devotees.
One wonders if science took out the ingredient THC out of marijuana plants if there would be as many devotees?
After all, drinking alcohol in public is against the law, though if alcohol was removed from ones favourite beverage would it still have a strong following?
All in all it seems, marijuana is just a delivery system for THC, a mind numbing addictive drug, like alcohol, minor effects on motor skills and mental faculties in small amounts, but a danger of paranoia and manic depression, much like alcohol when misused in large amounts.
One can be sure Vancouver marijuana advocates at the rally did anything in small amounts.
So when pot smokers rally to legislation, who profess the medicinal qualities, yet suffer no ailments requiring medicinal marijuana, are they just riding the coat tails of legal medicinal marijuana advocates? It certainly seems so.
Scientific reports claim alcohol gives a person beer goggles and superman qualities in their own mind. Marijuana gives the user a personal name change mellowness and stupidity followed by hunger pangs. Just ask Ms. Hippie Bong Stocking who was interviewed at yesterday’s Toronto Pot Rally. Her parents must be so proud?
So those who just want to get high, like those who want to get drunk just say, Hey! I want to smoke my brains out, and chow down a 5 pound bag of cheetos, while listening to some tunes. After let’s call a spade a spade!
British Columbia may ask themselves why other Canadians and our US neighbours to the South can never take British Columbia seriously on Crime.
British Columbia and it’s citizenry are then incensed when the US of A implements passport entry regulations for all Canadians?
